Well, what started off as a trip to Beijing, China to learn Chinese has now become a pro-longed stay. When I first came to China, I was only expecting to stay here for 1 semester (6 months), that quickly turned into 2 semesters.
For lack of a more recent photo... I still need to clean up my photos, to the left is a photo I took of a garden in Hangzhou during the major January snow. Simply gorgeous... Read on for an update of what I'm doing now...
On a fateful trip May Holiday vacation trip to Hangzhou, I bumped into a very nice person and we chatted. This finally resulted in me sending in my resume to a local company in Hangzhou. After going back to classes at Tsinghua, finishing up Finals, getting ready to move back home to the U.S., I came back to Hangzhou for an interview and soon after... though not without its hassles and troubles, I accepted a position in Hangzhou. In a previous post, I mentioned that we have come back to China and are no longer in Beijing. That's what I was referring to. I have completed my two semesters at Tsinghua University's Chinese Language Program, went back to the U.S. for a short family visit, also a short one-week vacation travelling in Taiwan, and within weeks I came back to China. Now I am living and working in Hangzhou, China. The company I work for is called Alibaba.com. It is not a particularly well-known company abroad, but does seem to be quite well known within China. I've been at this company for about 8 months now and I am really enjoying my experience here, despite the hard work and white hairs I have growing on my head. So, what used to be called a Beijing Ripple... will now have to changed to a China Ripple. After I get some technicalities worked out, I hope to write more about my experiences in Beijing, Hangzhou, Alibaba, and more. So, now you all know what I'm up to. :) Add as favourites (129) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 1389
