For those of you who might've asked about the famed sandstorms of Beijing, you might've heard many tell you that these sandstorms tend to come in the Spring, and that when they do, the whole world (well your current world of Beijing) feels as if it is covered under a thick blanket of yellow.

Well, Beijing's turn has come. The news report has some uncomfortable news for Monday...

From local news reports it looks like Sandstorms have emerged and hit northern China during the weekend. The Xinjiang airport of Kashgar was closed for a time due to the severity of the sandstorm, in addition to affecting other modes of transportation as well. Tianjin also was affected by sandstorms this weekend, though less severe. Xi'An suffered the strongest sandstorms to date for 2007 accompanied by a harsh temperature drop as well. Gansu, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, and Shandong all have experienced sandstorms this weekend.

For Beijing a warning of strong winds was issued Sunday afternoon. The news also warned of the possibility of a force five wind  on Monday with temperatures dropping to about 5 degrees Celsius.

According to the China Meteorological Administration, 11 to 15 sandstorms are forecasted this spring in the northern and northwestern areas of China.

As usual there is nothing much any individual can do about these circumstances other than avoiding the outdoors and wearing a scarf, mask, and such coverings when you do go outside.
