Where are we? What are we up to? What's gonna happen to RP?
Written by Jean

Hangzhou West Lake EveningHi everyone! This is Jean dropping in after a long absence from the main part of the site. You'll still find me posting in the forums and answering email from people who somehow sneak in and get my email address. But for the most part, I've been absent from the front portion of the site.

Well, in short I've never been busier and literally had no time to even visit RP on a daily basis for a few weeks in a row. But things are settling down again... slowly. I'm still pretty busy, but things are finally falling into place slowly. For now, I'm no longer in Beijing, though I intend to go back to Beijing this weekend or next weekend. Just for the weekend.

Which means... I'm back in China. After continent hopping from Mainland China to Taiwan to the U.S. to Hong Kong and back to Mainland China, I'm done with the migratory period for now. I'm currently in Zhejiang Province, Hangzhou, the lovely tourist city that is unbearably hot in the summer. Well, not as unbearable as Las Vegas, but this place is a walking sauna all day and all night unless it's raining. :)

So, what are we up to in Hangzhou? Well, we're not in school anymore, that's about all I can say.

And what's going to happen to RipplePath? Well, RipplePath is going to come back to life very soon. It's alive enough to recieve your inquiries, but after I get settled, I plan to breathe fresh life into RipplePath and broaden a bit it's resources to include Hangzhou. The city that I am living in now. And how am I going to achieve that? Hmm, I'll have to sit back down at the drawing board and figure out how to architect and re-design it so that it'll all make better sense and be more usable.

So for now, just sit back, use RP as you always have and know that it's going to recieve a bit of a new spin in the coming weeks... month... hopefully not months. :)

As for Beijing, I still have many friends left and hopefully some of you Beijinger's will continue to contribute your findings, reviews, experiences, questions and etc to RP. Otherwise, what RP already has is decently useful and I can update on my occassional trips back to the BJ. :)

And now if you come to Hangzhou, you'll have an excellent source to look up too, whether to live like me, or to vacation here. :)

So thanks for stopping by! Take care! Put on some sunblock!

 and... ciao!

~Jean~

Best of luck on finals and see you perhaps someday in another part of the world. :)

10 Things I Love and Hate about Tsinghua
Written by Jean
Wednesday, 27 June 2007

Tsinghua University Poster by Chinese Language StudentsIt is now Finals Review of the Chinese Language Program at Tsinghua University, in Beijing China. Within 2 weeks, most of us will be leaving this place where we've spent the last 9-10 months of our lives at.

Tsinghua, despite minor setbacks, has been a great place to study at. With each semester and even with each passing month, I notice that Tsinghua is improving its system, its curriculum, student life and etc so that it can be a major candidate for attracting foreign students to come study.

These last 9-10 months have been invaluable to me, in terms of what I've learned, the friends I've made, the teacher's I've met, and the life I've experienced while abroad.

For a fun little read, I have compiled a list of 10 things that I love and hate about studying and living at Tsinghua University. Hope you enjoy it!

Also! Feel free to add in your own list , no matter how long you've been here! Perhaps later we'll compile a Beijing top 10 loves and hates list.
