Final Inspection

Unfortunately I was not able to go back for the final fitting, however I did manage to inspect the suit once he brought it back.
The quality of the fabric leaves you little room for complaint, from my first glance at the suit I was impressed by the look of the fabric. The fabric that my suits was of, was a middle-low end type fabric, nothing from the expensive books, and yet it definitely catches your eye. The tailoring on the suit is meticulously done from the outside to the lining and for the pants. Unfortunately, I don't recall the quality of the buttons. The only thing that was left to be desired was the quality of the "free" shirt that came with my friends suit. The fit was not quite right and at the first fitting the gentleman told us there was no need to fit the "free" shirt since he already had measurements and as it turned out the "free" shirt didn't fit right. My friend didn't really mind as he had a lot of shirts and it was a special promotional "freebie" anyway. The suit fit him wonderfully though and moving around in the suit was nice and fluid. He was satisfied to the point of ordering another suit and a coat from Senli & Mae. From my impressions, I feel that if style and quality are imperative to you, rather than just function, then Senli & Mae can fulfill those points probably better than the run-of-the-mill tailors can. This tailor also prides himself in being from Shanghai and therefore having possessing a more tasteful eye on the look of your suit and a suitable style. The price will definitely reflect the cost of the imported European fabric, the quality of the handiwork, and aesthetic process of your suit. So if this is what you want, then this might be right for you, if practicality and economics are more important for you at this stage, then the additional premium and services here might be a bit unnecessary. First Fitting

I went yesterday with Elie to see his first fitting with this tailor. I walked in to a large building with the tailor shop at the right side. The tailor shop was small, but cozey and orderly. One one side of the wall is a small shelf filled to the brim with fabric booklets. Each of these booklets held many samples of European imported fabrics. In this store were many jackets, pants, coats hanging neatly off the racks.
The owner, who was a gentleman, greeted us kindly and brought us some fabric books to look through as we waited for him to finish with his current customer's second fitting. Just from first glance the suit looked quite nice on that customer, it looked like a good fit for him. After he was done, Elie tried on his first fitting. The entire suit was quite nice and I liked the fabric. The pants needed some more adjustments, and the coat which looked very nice, needed only minor adjustments. This tailor many times assured us that he was not just someone who knew how to sew, but that he also takes care in the style, form and fit. He often emphasizes that he has studied design as well as often keeps up to date with the latest trends in suits and fashions. From this first fitting I have a good impression of this tailor and his shop. I think I might try having a coat made at this place in the near future. I will try to go back with Elie for a second fitting and see how it turns out, before I leave a rating for this shop. I also have a suit in the making from another tailor shop that I will compare with this shop.
