Feifei Tailor map in Chaoyang, Beijing, China

The shop makes everything from suits, to qipao's, to coats and dresses. The price is quite economical for foreigners and a little on the high end for locals. The place stocks Chinese fabrics, you would be hard pressed to find imported European fabrics for suits perse at this shop. You can bring in your own fabric and designs/samples for them to mimic.

This shop has a mainly western customer base and are able to communicate with westerners decently.

Black Suit, Sexy Lining, Business Ethics

I also ordered a black suit with fabric from Fei Fei, the second nicest black fabric in the shop. This suit was quite the trial for us both. The fit was the most difficult of the process, as a females fit is often much more difficult to get right than with a male. This suit took 2 fittings and in the end I was still not so satisfied with the final resulting fit. I think the suit was made too large to begin with. Perhaps it was because they measured me in the winter months when I was more bundled up in thermals and now in the springtime I'm not wearing as much as I used to. When there seemed to be nothing else they could do to make the fit better, I suggested that they simply shift the buttons a bit so that it would button a little more snug and that seemed to work alright. All in all, I have to say, the fabric of this suit appears mediocre, definitely nothing as as eye-catching as my friends imported European fabric, so you get what you pay for in this regard, but this suit is perfectly fine for practical purposes and interviews where you don't want to look better than the interviewer. The buttons definitely leave something to be desired, I will have to change them out when I get back to the States and buy some decent quality buttons rather than the plain plastic looking ones that are on my suit right now. The lining, however is something that I cannot be thankful enough for. Xiao Fei originally quoted me a price for a lower quality silk lining of my color. However she was not able to get that lining and she wanted to hold up her end of the bargain and have it done in our agreed timeline, so she used the high quality silk lining instead and didn't even mention it to me nor raise the price on me at the first fitting. When I wore the suit jacket I did indeed notice how nice the lining felt against my skin. It was finally at the second fitting that Xiao Fei told me she used the high quality expensive lining and would not charge me for it because she had promised me a certain color and would hold up her end of the deal. I was very impressed. So the fit, the exterior appearance of the fabric, and buttons are not something that's going to make me check myself out in the mirror (except for that super sexy lining), but for all practical purposes it more than suffices and the price was extremely economical.

Also, there was once where Xiao Fei had scheduled my friend and I for a fitting, but she forgot and didn't have our clothes ready so we were to go back empty-handed, but she offered to reimburse us for our travel expenses since we came so far. We of course didn't let her do so, but we were impressed with how she treated her customers. She does indeed to seem fair and upstanding, and someone you can probably trust to do business with.
Wool Skirt Suit

Review on my wool skirt suit, which turned out quite well and I am impressed by how much work they did on the suit, as the wool cloth was quite thick and was probably hard to work with. The fabric for this skirt suit was purchased at a fabric market and they allowed me to bring in my own fabric. This suit took one fitting to get right. The first fitting, everything was a little on the big side and so they had to try to tuck it in a bit more for a better fit. The stitching and handiwork is detailed and well done. The zipper is of moderate to low quality, but serves its practical purpose and should not be problematic. They were very kind to attend to my special requests of making a belt out of the extra woolen fabric even though it was quite difficult for them as near the end they realized that I did not provide them with enough fabric. Overall I am satisfied with this suit and would return to use this tailor again. The only thing that I was uncomfortable with was that Xiao Fei would compliment on the fit of the suit and say that I should take it home, when it didn\'t seem so to me.

My friend and I have had several pieces made there and we were quite pleased with what we got for the most part. I had a very simple strapless dress made out of a Chinese silk fabric on the outside with silk lining on the inside. The handiwork and fit were all to my satisfaction. I have now on order a black suit and a wool skirt suit. I\'m looking forward to the first fitting coming up soon.

The gentleman employee that serviced us the first time was called Zhu Jun 朱君and was very nice. This second time was Xiao Fei herself and was also quite pleasant.

I was disappointed to learn that they could not duplicate some of my dresses from the U.S. because the sewing was diagonal instead of horizontal. They also were not skilled enough to work with the fabrics of my dresses like chiffon. So I\'m still keeping an eye out for a tailor that is capable enough to make some really unique items.
