I was previously setting up a Flickr Gallery for RipplePath. Flickr is a very well-designed and popular photo/image gallery in the United States and as of last week I noticed that my photos from Flickr were no longer getting displayed. At first I thought that it was simply Tsinghua's poor internet or a temporary problem. However it has been several days now and the problem remains.

中国大陆又挡了一个好网站。 我原来准备给RipplePath加一个相册，那么市场上最好的相册以我而言乃是Flickr。但是上个星期我就开始发现Flickr里的相片在清华大学的网络上不出现。那时我还以为是清华的问题。但是以过几天，这个问题仍然还存在，我今天搜索了一下，发现中国大陆又把一个好网站给挡了。真是让人烦恼啊。

Here is Flickr's official statement on this issue. 这里有Flickr的正式声明。 

So, running a quick search I have discovered that China has blocked Flickr's image servers. One rumor has it that it is because some photos of police/official brutality against a student was posted on Flickr. Another rumor is regarding Haicang PX, a chemical factory plant, currently being built in Xiamen in Fujian Province ...residents complain that even though the construction is not yet finished, they can already smell industrial odors.

It is very unfortunate as Flickr is one of the best online galleries and I really don't want to use any alternative. Therefore, I encourage anyone in China who is unable to see Flickr photos to try utilizing a proxy or VPN if possible so you can have unhampered access to online resources.
